Aron U. Raskas

Mr. Raskas concentrates his practice in the area of business litigation, with an emphasis on corporate governance and disputes concerning business operations and control. He also practices in the area of white collar criminal law.

Mr. Raskas is the author of a  recently published four-part series of articles on "Proactively Protecting the Corporation From Civil and Criminal Liability." He has also served as an adjunct instructor for the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, conducting programs for accountants learning to serve and testify as expert witnesses. 

Mr. Raskas also focuses a substantial part of his practice in the area of professional liability. He is the editor of the Professional Liability Newsletter published by Defense Research Institute. As the responsibilities of electronic discovery continue to proliferate, Mr. Raskas is applying his experience to address professional liability claims arising from alleged failures in electronic discovery.

Mr. Raskas has extensive experience in the area of electronic discovery and document retention. He has presented training programs on this subject for lawyers and business persons, and is the author of a regular column in Maryland's Daily Record on electronic discovery issues. He is also the chair of the E-Discovery and Discovery Subcommittee of Defense Research Institute’s Corporate Integrity and White Collar Crime Committee.

In March, 2002, Mayor Martin O'Malley appointed Mr. Raskas to serve as President of the Baltimore City Civil Service Commission, which advises the Mayor and the Director of Human Resources on personnel and employment related issues. Previously, Mr. Raskas served a two-year term on the seven member Baltimore City Employees' Retirement System Board of Trustees, which oversees the investment of more than One Billion Dollars of assets maintained to provide retirement allowances and death benefits for municipal employees.

Mr. Raskas serves on the Executive Committee of the Orthodox Union, a national Jewish organization, and on the Board of Directors of the national Jewish Council for Public Affairs.  Mr. Raskas also writes and speaks frequently on Israeli and Middle East affairs. He is a frequent commentator on Maryland Public Television's Direct Connection; The Marc Steiner Show, an issues‑oriented radio show produced by National Public Radio affiliate, WYPR‑FM; and has appeared as well on NPR's flagship Talk of the Nation program.
