All associates are hired by the Firm with the expectation that they have the capacity to become members of the Firm. Our associates frequently come to the Firm from judicial clerkships; several have worked at the Firm as summer associates or law clerks. Others come to the Firm as laterals from other firms.
Associates at Kramon & Graham, P.A. are given substantial responsibility at an early stage in their careers. Associates have direct contact with clients and, consistent with experience and ability, frequently take or defend depositions, appear in court, and close transactions. Writing assignments include drafting briefs, pleadings, and contracts as well as the traditional legal research memoranda. The Firm is an excellent place for young lawyers with initiative, who seek a varied experience in their practice.
Litigation associates are assigned to teams of lawyers and work primarily with the lawyers in their group, led by principals who practice in a variety of areas. For example, a litigation associate may work on a white collar criminal case one day and a construction defect case the next. Senior associates in the insurance coverage area tend to be more dedicated to that practice area.
Transaction associates work with all of the principals in the real property and business law groups. Such work typically includes transactions involving the purchase or sale of real property and operating businesses, commercial real estate finance, land use, including hearings before the applicable local authorities and, occasionally, work on real estate oriented litigation. Many of the clients are entrepreneurs with unique transactions resulting in opportunities for creative drafting, deal structuring, and problem solving.
When evaluating associates, the Principals of the Firm emphasize strong writing skills, initiative, and personal presence.
The Firm is an equal opportunity employer. It is the policy of the Firm, from recruitment through employment and promotion, membership consideration, training, and work assignments, to provide equal opportunity at all times without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability.
