Cyclist fatalities are increasing

cyclistsCyclists today are more vulnerable than ever. The number of cyclists on the road has increased as more and more people are commuting by bike. During the pandemic, bike riding, particularly among children, has increased substantially. It seems that that reports of cyclists being taken out by hit and run drivers are becoming more common. According to a recent article in Outside magazine, it hasn't been this dangerous to ride a bicycle on American roads in three decades. In Maryland, there is an average of 816 bicycle crashes per year. About 80% of these crashes result in injury or death. To protect the legal rights of cyclists involved in serious crashes, Kramon & Graham trial lawyer and avid cyclist Dave Shuster developed “The Cyclist's Essential Checklist.” Dave represents clients in claims involving fatalities and serious injuries. He urges riders to keep these tips in mind when dealing with motorists, the police, and insurance companies in the event of a motor vehicle-bike accident.
