Alternative Dispute Resolution
Recognizing their duties as counselors as well as advocates, the Firm's attorneys evaluate each disputed matter to determine how to best achieve the desired result. In appropriate circumstances, our lawyers may recommend, and represent clients in, mediation or arbitration. In many instances, mediation offers clients an opportunity to reach a negotiated outcome, without the expenses and risks associated with a protracted, contested proceeding. The Firm's litigation attorneys are highly experienced and adept at representing clients in mediation and arbitration.
Two of the Firm's attorneys regularly serve as mediators or arbitrators. Andrew Jay Graham is a trained alternative dispute resolution (ADR) expert and founder of the panel of select attorneys sponsored by Maryland ADR Services, Inc. The Best Lawyers in America publication recognizes him in the area of Alternative Dispute Resolution. Mr. Graham has been selected to serve as an arbitrator or mediator in many contested matters, and has served on arbitration panels with former judges and other distinguished attorneys. Geoffrey Genth serves as a court-appointed mediator for the Circuit Courts of Baltimore City and Baltimore County, and is a member of the panel of mediators specially qualified to serve on cases in the Maryland Circuit Courts' "business and technology" program. Mr. Genth has served as the mediator in scores of disputed cases.
