Business Litigation
Business litigation is one of the core strengths of the Firm. Kramon & Graham, P.A., in the course of compiling an impressive record of garnering the results that its clients seek, has won acclaim from the legal community, business community, and individual clients for its litigation prowess. Basing its ranking upon approximately 5,000 interviews with lawyers and clients across the United States, the authoritative Chambers USA guide to lawyers and law firms accorded Kramon & Graham "highest tier" status in the state of Maryland for business litigation. Chambers USA noted that clients particularly appreciate the "top-notch service and excellent business sense" of Kramon & Graham litigators, and quoted clients as stating that our lawyers "really understand [the client's] operations and what's important to [clients]." The Firm also was praised as being home to "some of the 'most experienced trial lawyers' in the state, who are renowned for their 'smart and solution-oriented' approach and for giving 'sound advice before you get to the courtroom.'" Firm Principals Andrew Jay Graham, James P. Ulwick, Geoffrey H. Genth, and John A. Bourgeois were singled out for their accomplishments on behalf of business litigation clients.
Chambers USA is not alone in its recognition of the Firm's excellence in business litigation. Principals of the Firm are included in the most recent edition of The Best Lawyers in America, and four (Gertrude C. Bartel, Andrew Jay Graham, M. Natalie McSherry, and James P. Ulwick) have been inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers, widely considered to be the premier trial organization in the United States.
The Firm's business clients are a diverse group of public entities, private entities, and individuals. We are adept as litigators on behalf of either plaintiffs or defendants. The many significant business matters that the Firm has handled over the years include a dispute for control of the Maryland horse-racing industry; a widely-publicized controversy over the disposition of one of Baltimore's cultural treasures; a famous collection of pre-impressionist paintings and prints; serving as class action plaintiffs' liaison counsel in national multidistrict litigation involving allegations of systemic corruption in the distribution of inventory to car dealers by an international automotive manufacturer; and being designated as lead plaintiffs' counsel in consumer class actions challenging predatory lending practices.
