Construction LitigationConstruction disputes can be complicated, factually intense, and contentious. Most disputes involve disagreements about technical construction issues, differing interpretations of drawings and plans, and divergent views of contractual obligations. When representing clients in construction disputes, the Firm's construction lawyers quickly attain a full understanding of the events that occurred in the field and the construction principles at issue. We work closely with the client to develop a sound strategy for moving forward effectively and efficiently. We have extensive experience representing developers, project owners, design professionals, new home builders, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in a wide variety of construction disputes and claims. We represent our construction clients in both the prosecution and defense of construction and design defect claims, mechanics' lien actions, government contract claims, insurance coverage disputes, delay claims, and payment claims. We also advise clients about ways to improve their contracts, and we help our clients implement business practices to avoid future disputes and to improve collections. We participate in industry organizations, and we have lectured and published articles on a broad range of important legal issues affecting the construction industry. Our members include Philip M. Andrews, the former Chair of the Defense Research Institute's Construction Defects subcommittee, and David J. Shuster, a lecturer, and contributing author for a subcontracting trade organization. |
