Kramon & Graham obtains acquittal of former correctional officer in ECI corruption case

Kramon & Graham criminal defense attorneys Jim Ulwick (left) and Will Harrington (right) obtained an acquittal for a former Eastern Correctional Institution correctional officer charged in a case involving the largest number of individuals ever indicted in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. The client was charged with smuggling drugs and other contraband into a large state prison on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Following a three-week trial, a jury acquitted the firm's client of racketeering, bribery, and narcotics distribution charges. In two indictments, federal prosecutors charged 80 people with smuggling-related crimes. Of the 41 people first named in the indictment in which the firm's client was charged, 40 were convicted, and the firm's client was acquitted.
