Daily Record selects Brian Southard as a 2018 VIP award winner
Kramon & Graham real estate principal Brian Southard has been named a 2018 Daily Record VIP List winner. The award will be presented at Gertrude's restaurant at The Baltimore Museum of Art in September.
Brian is one of the youngest principals ever elected to Kramon & Graham and one of the youngest to serve on the firm's Executive Committee. His legal skills, business acumen, and ability to negotiate and creatively structure complicated deals have made him a key member of the firm's real estate practice.
Through his tireless focus on client service and innovative fee arrangements, Brian has successfully demonstrated that big law is not the only option for sophisticated parties involved in complex commercial real estate transactions. He operates across the full spectrum of real estate work, including property development, acquisitions, disposals, leasings, financings and joint venture formations. Brian represents four publicly-traded homebuilders operating in the Mid-Atlantic region and has worked on some of the most complex land deals and construction defect, contract, warranty and real estate disputes in the region.
Brian was honored by the Maryland Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a "Baltimore's Finest 35-Under-35" honoree. He served on the Board of Directors of the Community Law Center for eight years, and he is a former alumni advisor to the James Madison University Men's Rugby Football Club.
Listed as one the Best Lawyers in America, Brian has been recognized in Maryland Super Lawyers magazine every year since 2011.
Brian earned graduate degrees from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law (JD) and the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business (MBA). He completed his undergraduate work at James Madison University (BBA).
The Daily Record created the VIP List to recognize successful Maryland professionals who are 40 years of age and younger. Winners are selected for their professional accomplishments, community service and commitment to inspiring change.
